Hello,
I have decided to re-tile my kitchen backsplash and have removed all the existing tiles. The walls are all solid with breeze / concrete block and a layer of plaster.

I would appreciate advice on the following:
1. What is the best way to prep the existing walls? Images attached below. I have considered just using some filler or backerboard or a combination of both depending on the area but am confused.
2. What is the best way to bury the exposed electrical cables?

Thank you in advance!
