Bugger the shovel mixing, I have a old plastic plasterers bath and an old belly drill with the right paddle..mixes a treat.

Nice views though.

If you don't mind me asking... What's the mix ratio and method when using sand, whats the minimum and maximum depths that can be used and how long befor you can walk on it? Cheers

Hi Srewart normal ratio for semi-dry is 4:1 grit sand to opc, min bed 50mm imo average 65/70mm. Not sure the method Gay is using, but I woul guess slurry mix,no doubt Gary will let us know:thumbsup:

The mix used here was 5 bags of coarse sharp sand and 1 bag of snow crete and water was replaced with sbr bond mixed 3;1 with water ,bonding slurry is white cement with sbr bond mixed to a creamy consistency with a couple of hand fulls of spf adhesive to slow the slurry down from drying out, bonded to a concrete base you can go as thin as 25mm bed and polymer enhanced you can go as thin 15mm, unbonded on pvc sheeting over a solid base I go to 50mm minimum bed depth and reinforce it with chicken wire, over insulation I keep it to 60mm.
24hrs before light foot traffic with opc but you can get cement from Mapei and Ardex that will take heavy traffic within a few hours

Thanks guy's...... really interested in giving this a go as I was never taught this method of fixing during my time as an apprentice.. Think I need to look into it a bit more as I can see it being a great alternative to some of my fixing methods that I use at present.
