How are wood screws sized in the UK and Europe? My customer just got some hinges for a door, and while they are standard size for the US**** (dimensions of the hinge leaves are in inches) the screws seems to be non-imperial. Our standard for identifyng wood screws is size on a number scale by the length in inches. (#6, #8, #10, #12, and so on X length in inches)
The screws included with the hinge are too short and I need to find some that are longer but of the same head size/diameter.
For example, the size I need is just a shade smaller than #10 X 1 1/4". I have all kinds of metric wrenches, bits, hex keys, rulers, bolt templates, sockets, etc etc, but nothing that shows me that there is another standard for wood screws.
I need to track these down for my customer and finish our job, so any info would be helpful.
****these hinges came from China, so the other wild card is that it is standard screws but just mis-made.:mad2:
