Method of dot & dabbing boards

Q

Just wondering what we all use to fix plasterboard when spot fixing (dot & dabbing).

Do you prefer using tile adhesive or drywall adhesive?

I mostly use bagged cement tile adhesive as I don't like contaminating my buckets!!!

Wow you must have bags of money personally I would use the correct material to do the job. In this case it would be board adhesive

I rarely use plasterboard, that's the thing as I nearly always use Marmox boards. I am however d&d'ing plasterboard at the moment and although drywall is indeed cheaper I personally prefer tile adhesive. Some tile adhesives are recommended for use as board adhesive Deano, and that is what I am using

Drywall adhesive for me....Just used some this morning. Great stuff to work with and way cheaper than tile addy.

Drywall Addy for me. I heard recently of a guy who used it to fix tiles to concrete floors!!

**yawn** Yes Deano

Mapei tech (& product specs) say it's good for it, so that's good enough for me

Did the tiles stay put John?
I think dry wall adhesive would stick just about anything to everything..

As far as I'm aware they did, not budged a 100th of a mm, was going to say inch but then ....

Dry wall adhesive for me too. Lovely to handle and when it sticks it bloody sticks. Bit smelly though but so cheap!

Often wondered if this stuff would stick tiles, be great if it could cos the build out depth is fantastic.

Queried it with Mapei Tech years ago who confirmed fine to use for d&d gypsum pb

so you did not look at the bit that said DO NOT use P9 for installations that require a bed depth grater than 5mm

I did Deano, hence why I called Tech!

The post from YOU below on the tubbed adhesive thread can be used as my response......(just change BAL to Mapei and shower to spot fixing plasterboard!)

i have not offered my opinion in this thread i have offered information from the data sheet and from BAL technical it is not me that is saying it can be used in a shower it is BAL.

And the data sheet says do not use it on installations that require a bed depth grater than 5 mm so what is the point of quoting the other post

:mad2:**yawn**

I tell you what Deano you will be the first to know when it all comes crashing down :9:
