Hi All,

Now it's cooled down I'm doing the final prep ready to tile my bathroom... If I hadn't listened to the advice from you all it would probably have failed by now ;)

Anyway, I wiped the HB down and allowed it to dry, then applied the Mapei primer that came with the kit.

My question is around the tape, it tells you in the instructions to remove the scrim and only apply the rubber into a wet corner of their sealant, i'm a bit confused as the instructions are basic at best (probably as it's a trade product)

OK, the questions is.. Do you cut the scrim off?? I would have thought it would make the seal stronger when applied correctly....?

Cheers,

Jon.

Yes, cut off the scrim on one side and then lip the membrane onto the tray to just less than the thickness of your wall tile. You will need to use masking tape to cover the remainder of the tray top.

Absolutely spot on Chalker, couldn't have put it better myself. A TA in the making, short answer, clear and to the point.

Mapeband has a pre-made groove in the centre to allow it to bend easily. I often cut just past this so it creases nicely and laps over as chalker describes
