i started a thread about tiling over water heat pipes a few weeks ago but came to conclusion didnt want the job as was too risky.
another tiler has come back and said he would fix hardibacker board screwed in to ply batten which are betwen heat pipes and on top of screed .
any views on this.
my first question is does hardibacker board let heat through it and can it be used over water pipes in any circumstance.

Don't remeber the original thread. Wy can the tiles not be stuck directly to the substrate. If you put battens down and then hardibacker over your heating will be lagged by an air ga and will not give yo either response or efficiency. If you must use hardibacker ou will be better to stick it down to the substrate with a ful adhesive bed
