Hi,
Following a small water leak that led to the bathroom floor needing to be replaced I laid a new marine ply floor, gave it two coats of Bal prime apd, laid new electric underfloor heating followed by Bal fibrebase self smoothing compound, I then used Bal single part fastflex to lay the new tiles. That was 24 hrs ago.
I've just checked them and the adhesive doesnt seem to have hardened as much as I thought it might, it's still possible to push a knife into the adhesive, it's about the same density as hard rubber.

Can anyone tell me if this is correct?

It will get harder Alan but it won't go off as hard as SPF sounds like it is still curing to me

 I've just checked the bag and it was out of date the end of August!!
Only bought it Three days ago!!
I did think about checking before using it but the bag came wrapped up in a tight plastic bag (bought online) so I just cut the top off

Just realised the bag was three months out of date which is annoying as I only bought it a few days ago, I knew I should've checked before using it but it was in a tightly wrapped plastic bag so I just cut the top off. Bought it online - lesson learnt!!!
I'll try some heat as you suggest, the room is a bit cold

What happens to adhesive when it's "out of date"?
It's not as if we are eating it!!
Seriously though can anyone tell me what happens to a bag that's out of date as I've never known.

Well it turns out the date on the bag is a manufacturing date not a use by date so it should be ok.
Still a bit concerned that it hasn't hardened more than it has tho. I can split a pea sized piece of the adhesive with my finger nail quite easily.

It stays soft - that's it's nature. Don't worry.
Despite the sentiments expressed on here it's a top notch adhesive and it's never failed me.
