I need to level a concrete floor with an adjacent kitchen floor so the tile run is a smooth transition.

Using self level is too expensive so was wondering whether using 10mm Marmox or Hardibacker sheets would be a better bet?

Would any further mechanical fixing be needed or is the tile adhesive on it's own OK.

Tiles will be slate

Thanks for the quick replies guys.

Yes both floors are concrete, one's a utility room and the others a kitchen.

Utility floor screed level is about 15mm lower than the kitchen so I just need the cheapest option really to level the two floors together.

Dave, you mention cheaper options than Marmox?
