Hi all

just thought id mention this and ask the question.

I went to a job to measure up and price for underfloor heating, the plumber brought his electrician along to price it aswell.
We was talking about it and i said the insulation boards needed to be stuck down with flexible powdered adhesive and the electrician looked at me and asked why and couldnt they be screwed down!!

I said they should never be screwed down and he gave me a look that kind of said to me "oh crap ive done loads of them with screws"
Since saying it ive had a niggle in the back of my head, so can somebody confirm i was right or have people screwed them down before??
Wouldnt it invalidate Warm ups warranty?

Thanks in advance
Mark

I do both on a timber floor like this.......

But I only use the adhesive if it's on top of a concrete floor.

Sorry mate I use Keraquick with latex plus (Mapei) I tend to cut the boards first then take up one at a time spread the adhesive, then screw so the board is pulled into the bed. Hope this makes sense:thumbsup:

Ahh right thanks mate, thought there was a glue id not heard of that I could use.

Mark.

hi all
thanks for the replies.
so its as i thought, you cant just screw them down on to wooden floors. i always use flexible rapid set powdered addy but i havent screwed them down before although i havent done many on wooden floors.
the customer has decided against underfloor heating on this job anyway due to cost.
thank you all again

it varies depending on which country your in, iirc in the USA they recommend using clout nails (+ adhesive)
