Anyone know what happened to the tiler who started that job in the Cayman Islands a while back, he posted a few pics of himself laying the first tile then that was it never heard nothing. He did say he would provide regular updates.
Yes Cameron is srill very much in the Cayman Islands, and making a good life for himself.
He's done exceptionally well tbh, someone that grabbed life by the horns and is reaping the benefits.
We speak on a fairly regular basis.

Came out of my time 85 , got a one way ticket to New York 86 , worked in Florida for 6 months on full money at 21 , yanks couldn't believe it . Drove to L A in 200 dollar car , 6 days and spent next 9 years working there. More to the trade there , you have to tar paper lathe wire scratch coat then float your own walls before you tile , great experience tho. Worked a year in Oz too in 99. Back up north now.

Why thank you Sir.

Well, what can I say, I started writing and have around thirteen A4 pages of content that I hope to be able to edit and post as soon as I can.

Things have changed dramatically over the last few weeks. I was given my notice to look for another employer as my now previous, didn't have anything to let me run.
I was given the nod to go to the competition and after turning up on his doorstep at 7am jobseeking, I am now employed by the biggest firm on island managing again. This is my second week in the position and I am very happy in the three jobs I am running.

The people I work with know their 'sh*t' and its very fluid.

I have also started a part time BSc in construction management as I wish to fulfill the wishes of my late mother and obtain a degree. I'm unsure what or where it will take me but for $20k I hope it helps me in some form.
So life is very busy at the moment, I wish I had the time to peruse the forum as I used to and give back to what you have all given me, be it in person, over the phone or works.

I will write it all up and post up the whole story...and it is one worth reading.

To return to the original question, I feel like I have been here for five minutes, I'm now into my third year and thriving with a thirst that is unquenchable.

So yes, go work abroad if you have no commitments. Be aware, you probably won't return.

Excellent stuff Cam, can't wait to read it.
I'd wish you good luck, but you seem to be making enough of your own!
May it long continue mate. 🙂

Well done Cam. It's refreshing to read a tale from someone with such a positive outlook. We could all learn a lot from that.
