Victorian Bathroom floor Surbiton, Surrey.

Old Mod

Here's a small Victorian bathroom floor completed just before Christmas.
It was originally done by the tiler who did the walls but the client was so unhappy with it, it was condemned! It was ripped up and I was asked to re lay the floor.
Now I'm going back to do a small cloakroom in a Geo tile and a nice 50m2 Porcelain Plank Floor in May.
Never a truer word said than "you're only as good as your last job!"

How long would that take to set out Marc?

I'm still a comparative novice at Geo floors Sean, that took all morning. Stepping back and looking at it now I wish I could have done a few things different but I was a little restricted at the time by the client. What I mean is, because this was the second time it was laid and they had some of the original purchase left (was massively over ordered by builder) they were very reluctant to purchase more tiles unless it was absolutely necessary. All I managed to do was get them to increase the size of the White border tile from 25mm to the 50mm width, that gave me a little leeway around the border for walls running out. Being black and white any variation in width of a tile it became quite noticeable! So in the odd place I actually trimmed the field tile down instead of the border because it was more subtle. I could have done with a few 150mm in the White too but didn't have them. I would have used them in front of the airing cupboard door. That's why the border runs tight to the door. If it didn't it would have created a double white cut in front of the door. That was the lesser of two evils. As it was those few white cuts around the angles were tiles I managed to fabricate from the White field tile and that was as big as they could possibly be because of the corners being cut off. If that makes sense! I had to treat the border as a separate entity to keep proportions even. It would have been better to keep the joint of the White border in line with the field tile but if u look closely u can see that would have created double cuts in the border which obviously wouldn't have worked.

There is usually always more to a job than a picture can show but this job reveals what has gone into the planning and setting out of a exceptional contract IMHO.
Again - well done.
