Thank you for your time.....

I have a customer who has very un-even floor boards. She wants to use electric heat membrane and travetine tiles.

IF i am to take this on obviously I want to make sure it is done correctly and I have had varying levels of advice, so time to ask the professionals!

My thoughts are to;

(1) remove all floor boards.
(2) Lay 18mm thick marine ply, screwed at 150-200mm intervals...

(3) do I now lay de-coupling membrane, do I lay tile backer board, do i lay Wedi board?

(4) heat membrane goes down
(5) 2 part flexi
(6) tiles

I am out of my comfort zone on this one and would appreciate any opinions / advice at all.

Thanks again for your time

If the floor is that uneven I would replace it as you say. If then the floor is solid and no deflection I would lay cement backer boards. Then UFH, then SLC , then decoupling membrane then tile. You can use a single part flexi adhesive.

With more info this advice may change.

Thanks guys, its very much appreciated.

So what do you guys say to the customer with regards to the increase in height!?

Her hall way is wooden floor boards, which used to flow straight into the bathroom, now theres going to be a fair step up......I guess thats just the price you pay?

hi as above,yes there will be a small step up,if she wants that laid she will have to compromise with the height simple as that
