I need to tile the walls inside a corner shower enclosure - can anyone tell me whether it necessary for the tiles to protrude outside the edges of the enclosure - i.e. does the enclosure have to be attached on to the tiles (to ensure a good seal etc) - or can the tiles inside the enclosure butt up against the inside edge of the enclosure? NB I only want tile behind the shower and am not tiling entire bathroom walls. Any help for this inexperienced diy tiler would be much appreciated!

As long as you Seal/mastic joins either is fine. which ever is neater or pleasing to the eye. you may also want to think of tanking your shower area before you tile.

Thanks for the quick response! Very helpful. I have 'tanked' inside the shower after reading posts on this forum a few days ago!

I would read the information on the shower enclosure first. Some frames have to be fixed onto tiles or an impervious surface as the water runs through the frame and out into the tray. Be careful not to seal over any drainage holes in frame.
On corner showers I tend to bring the tiling out past the frame by up to 50-75mm to allow a good sealed joint between the shower tray/front, the upstand and the tiled areas of walls.
John.
