Starting Out

Hi, Ive been looking at starting tiling after having to re-trade and was fairly positive after a training course, however I have been looking at the work on the fb site and Im starting to wonder how Im ever going to get the the standard some u guys are achieving...I can do extra courses eventually but starting to wonder if i'll get the more basic splash back work to get started and the thought of tiling someone elses bathroom is filling me with dread.

any good advice lol. thanks.

Could try and work with a tiler or just do some labouring for one to pick up tips etc...

My tutor on course said other tilers in my area would be unlikely to take me on becos I'm older and obviously looking to work in competition eventually and who can afford to pay an extra man which would push prices up.

Oh yes, see where your coming from now...theres allways friends and family to practice on.

As whitebeam says, friends and family first and even maybe your own home. Then branch out from there.

Offer your time up for free, if you're any good and the person is decent they should pay you eventually. If you're serious a few days a week free where you're learning a trade is benefitting you and the person who is prepared to mentor you.

Failing that a rug on a tiled bedroom floor I guess will look ok?.
