Little long winded

Doing a bathroom at the moment, went today finished the walls off and got ready to do the floor about miday. Anyway did my cuts and primed the floor, nipped off for a bacon butty while it dried out. Got back an hour later and a lad who is plastering the downstairs said "water is pissing through the ceiling that is under the bathroom" I **** myself, thinking that i must have hit a pipe in the wall when putting batons up (pulled batons off before i went for a butty). Went upstairs and could see nothing, decided to pull a piece of the ply up and i could see where the leak was coming from. Was coming from a nut on the water pipe that goes to the toilet, must have been hand tightened as i could move it by hand. Tightened it with an adjustable which stopped the leak. I phoned the customer (who was away in Wales) to tell him, told him i know sod all about plumbing so don't know if it is just a loose nut or a buggered thread on it or whatever, wouldn't mind a plumber to take a look before i get the floor down incase the leak starts again when tiled, meaning tiles would need ripping up. Told me that pipe was installed by a plumber who he sacked beacause he was that bad ( he even ripped 2 floorboards up to put under the bath legs to raise it when he put it in).
Question is do i charge because i have to go back on Monday and half my day today is wasted as i had nothing to do?

if you have nothing on for Monday dont charge you could get more work the customer will recomend you (KEEP THE CUSTOMER HAPPY)

mmmm, I know we would all like to charge for every thing but as the lads say we have to keep the customer happy. Now if it was the customers fault it might be a little bit different.

Yeah not going to charge him cause after chat he couldn't apologise to me enough about it, totally the plumbers fault. Also told me he would like me to tile his kitchen (it is HUGE) and also his mothers bathroom so cant complain really 🙂

Realistically you'd be entitled to charge for your wasted time, but can always work against you if you do.
