Hey all,

Can someone please put me straight on the whole sealing process. Basically, im tiling a marble floor soon, and am a little unsure of how much of the tile I have to seal.

The whole tile? Top, sides, bottom.

Top Only?

Also If Im cutting, do i seal the cut?

Any clarification welcomed.

Cheers.

just seal the top of tile, make sure tile is clean , if you have the room to lay tiles out, seal before cutting,if not seal before grouting, need to sealed twice before grouting and once after.... dave.....

i done some white cararra marble last week on a floor i used fila from tops followed instructions on tin and only sealed once before grouting and once after worked out fine expensive though £22 for 500ml

Don't see the point in sealing before cutting as you are wasting sealant on the scrap. Any tiler should be able to work clean enough to seal after fixing.

The reason only the top needs to be sealed is that the sealer helps to resist staining. No need for it to be anywhere other than on the face.
