Hi there, I'm hoping there's a simple way of removing the front of a gas fire surround or at least releasing it slightly so I can fully remove all the tiles behind it and retile behind (like you do with plug sockets)?
Thanks for your help:yes:

if you can post a picture it might help as surround fixtures do vary. Is it an old or modern surround?

I'm afraid I haven't got a photo but it's a modern gas fire with the decorative surround over the front which overlaps some tiles and must have been taken off as tiles were fitted only a couple of years ago by previous owners.

i seem to remember our just snaps in place, but the last you want to do is try and pull it apart when it shouldnt... try looking on the manufacturers website?

Try pushing the surround upwards it may be seated on a keyhole type fixing. Look for any obvious signs around the edges where a fixing may be.

They usually slide on from the top, or are held on with magnets,

If your struggling it may be that the person who installed it added some 'no nails' type adhevise for that 'extra' support. In which case you'll have to either do your best with it on, or bend it off and buy a new one.
