Hi all, starting a mosaic splash back on Wednesday in a kitchen and have a question regarding the grouting.

The tiles are a Matt black glass mosaic with a slight raised stipple on them my worry is that when grouting the grout will collect in the stipple when applying the grout.

What is the best to clean excess grout off this kind of tile.

Customer also wants it finished in a grey grout what would you recommend
Bal or Mapei

Hello dhsanta65

I work for CTD and we do a a micro colour wall tile and wide joint grouts with Microban. This is a bal product.

They have a grey colour called Smoke or a grey/ cream colour called pebble.

If you are interested pm me with where you are in the uk and i will direct you to our nearest branch to find out if this in ok to use on mosic, what to use to wipe it off the tiles and if any is avaliable.

Cheers.

The micro colour pebble is more like a limestone colour...use the grey/smoke....if using the micro range then i would use GT1 additive as well with mosaics...

Or you could use the ultra colour from Mapei which is good for mosaics....

Fast setting and drying grout for 2 to 20 mm joints, available in 26 colours; does not produce efflorescence.

Application
Interior and exterior grouting of all types of ceramic tiles on walls and floors (double fired, single fired, klinker, porcelain, terracotta, etc.), glass mosaic, natural stone, concrete-framed glass blocks, etc. Easy to apply and finish.

I'd use the MAPEI without doubt,as dave says 26 colours etc.
i'v used the ultracolour on loads of mosaics and the finish is outstanding compared to some of the crap out there! it hardens really well so you have to wash it pretty quick, easily shaped just with washboy sponge.
