but hate paying main stealer dealers their high rates.
I have have a few problems with the car alarm setting off from time to time so yesterday as it was anice day, I thought I would have a look and see if I could find a fault. i had also noticed the lifgts in the glovebox were not working and neither were the lights behind the heater controls and cigarette lighter light too even though the lighter was fine.
After trawling through a Haynes manual for the vehicle, I set about taking glove box out...OK so far. I looked at the light and tested the bulb, all was fine and seemed to be a loose connection. I eventually sorted that out. Then checked all fuses and they were fine. Next set about getting to the bulbs in heater controls. The manual said where the screws were and how to do it but it was all wrong. An internet search gave me the correct way to get access and after a lot of faffing about I had the bulbs in my hand.
I tested the bulbs and there were indeed dead, so I needed new bulbs but by this time the shops were closed. So this morning a mate came and took me to the shop, I bought the bulbs and refitted it all. While I was doing that my mate said the problem was the alarm and its just a matter of disconnecting it. So he did that while I finishe off putting all te interior dash back in place. By the time I had done he had gone to the pub.
I checked all the lights and all were working as normal. Success !!....No wait ! I tried to start the car but nothing happened, it sounded as if it was trying to start but wouldnt run. I wondered if I had done something behind the dash panel !.....Another search on the internet seems to have the answer, What ever it was my mate removed or disconnected is part of a immobiliser system !
Now I have no idea where that item is or if he has actually removed it but I cant get in touch with him at the monment and to make things worse is raining here, so wrking on the car is awkward.....Arrgggghhhhhhhhhh I hate cars.

I do one job on the car and end up with four other jobs because of what I done, I pay someone to do it.

as we keep telling the cowboy 'tilers' on here..................................leave it to the proffesionals:lol:

Ok the friend turned up early this morning and couldnt understand why the car wouldnt start. So I got the spare keys and was about to give them to him while I got off to work. The car started ???? seems like it was the transponder thingy in the key ! Weird how it just happened and even weirder that the original key now works too !

....I am off to fix some mosaic...much simplier !
