We own a Victorian house in Sydney, Australia and would like to use reclaimed tiles to tile the back veranda. I have got some (from several different locations...) and many need the grout removed from them.

This seems like an excellent forum for some advise about the best way of doing this!

Cheers!

So, any thoughts you gurus out there?!

Have tried the angle grinder, which works well but there are a LOT of nice tiles that needs cleaning... Can we use something along the lines of a bench grinder or a belt sander? Any thoughts on grit size or type? A jig for the angle grinder?!

Would much appreciate your input!!
Thanks!!

Hi and welcome to TF, if you have, or can hire a flat bed diamond blade cutter, you can remove the old grout from the edges of your tiles, by running the tile along the blade. Much more accurate than an angle grinder. N.B. alternate the side of the blade, so you don't put to much strain on the spindle, a lesson I learned to my cost. Hope this helps, good luck.
