Dry Tile Cutter

Hi, Im looking for a dry tile cutter for porcelain tiles, polished and matt. I only want it for cutting up samples so not looking to spend a fortune but want to the tiles to continue the nice rectified finish. I have been using a plasplugs wet cutter but the polished tiles have been chipping whilst cutting.

Does anyone have any advice?

topps are doing the big clinker for about £60,me and dougie(travertine on the forum) tried it out today,really smooth cutter for it's price tag! defo going to get one

Are Topps still doing the Big Clinker for £60? Screwfix are £93, seems very cheap for Topps. It seems to get decent reviews, is the cutting wheel interchangeable with Rubi's??

The clinker from topps is a good buy ideal for large format rivan porcelain I always use my T60 but that beast beats it hands down for the big stuff

The 600 Genesis is a really good cutter on all materials, its my main cutter now, and can be purchased fairly cheap. Has the clinker system on it to cut.

Get a Sigma. They're superb cutters.

I was going to go into Topps tday and get the big clinker, but would i be better off the sigma? Has anyone tried both of them, and how do they compare price wise?

I mainly want a cutter for large format polished porcelain tiles...

Sigma are expensive (sorry don't know anything about your local pricing) but money well spent in the long haul. I've used Iishi (spelling?) and Rubi cutters in the past, but found the Sigma to reliably cut tiles that the others couldn't.

Just adding my bit because I've been down that path where you are reluctant to spend a bit more, but like most things in life, you generally get what you pay for.

If you are looking at Sigma, don't ignore Montolit. Our man at tradetiler can help you with one. Very similar to sigma in many respects.

Got the 'Big Clinker' yesterday from Topps £69. Feels pretty good and no initial problems (after 2 hours...........)

Ideal, I was going to pop down there today and buy one, what sort of tiles have you used on it?

Only ceramic wall and Wickes riven porcelain floor so far, no problems but, as I said, I only got it yesterday evening (DIY'er but planning to go full-time soon) Sure there are plenty others with more experience of it. What I've read, even on this thread has been positive and Topps being £25 cheaper than Screwfix can't be bad.

HI Golddigger, I havent tried it on smaller ceramic tiles yet, my only concern would be that it does have quite a big feel to it so you might find it a bit fidderly! Although it does cut larger ceramic tiles 31.6x45 and 30x30's a treat.

I've got four different:hurray: Sigma :hurray:cutters, wouldn't go past them for ease of use and very little to go wrong. Shop around for best price as they do vary quite a bit.
