I've done some tiling before and I was soooo naive. It was only barely acceptable. This time I did all the research and still didn't want to do it. I've spend more on tools and materials than it would have cost to tile twice over!
So, I'm taking my time and doing it right this time. A whole different prospect. I can't believe how much prep there is, not to mention the cost of adhesive, grout and sealant etc.
It's only 1.6m x 2m, but there are a lot of tiles!
Ultimately, the siliconing is going to be what can make it look awful. It's not something you can practice at really. I've just got to go for it. That's true of tiling too. You have a plan and jump in. A pro will know how to resolve all the little hiccoughs. I need time to scratch my head
The good thing is, slow set single part gives you plenty of time to fiddle. I don't think fast set would be so tolerant of incompetence. I've thrown away about a quarter of all my mixes so far, so it is not as economic as it should be. That's the trouble with doing it in small stages.
