1. ive just finished my first ever diy tiling job and am now getting ready to grout, my floor tiles are q-rock slate effect tiles and i want to grout them in black ,ive got the bal protective sealer to make thing a little easyer but need a little advice on what make of black grout would be best

2. my wall tiles are up and they need grouting in cream.
ive attached a picture of the tiles im using with the grout i want and wonderd if any one could also recomend a grout as close as possible to the pic.up close the grout looks quite sandy and grity ehich is what i want, is this prodused in the mixing or the make of grout?

hi jon, bal charcoal grout is black, not familiar with q rock or your floor substrate but would advise a flexible one to be on the safe side. The grout in your picture looks like a "wide joint" ivory to me. Hope this helps:santa_cheesy:

Check out Mapei Ultracolor Plus black. Excellent stuff but follow the instructions carefully.

I've tried that Russ ( must let it slake etc) but I must say imo it didn't set as black as bal charcoal

I have never used the BAL stuff Doug but mine seemed fine. Check out my granite floor in my gallery!

I used BAL Ebony Efflorescence Free, mixed with GT1 for use with flexible adhesive.

I rate it very highly. It really is efflorescence free. I used it on this wetroom a couple of weeks ago. Today I had to scrub the floor as I have just tiled the walls and needed to clean it up prior to fitting the bathroom out.

This was taken just after I did it but the grout still looks fine now.

Charge the tools you use to grout it to the job. You won't be able to grout anything else with them, they will be stained black!

marcassiehall Russ? I'd say that bal charcoal is blacker,I'd go as far saying it is near enough jet.

I have used BAL Charcoal with slate effect tiles and it works and looks really good.

It's difficult to see from your pic but you may want to take a look at Adrex sandstone grout (C2, I think) for the walls.

Just remember your admixes to ensure flexibility.

yep i am with Doug on this,Bal Charcoal
another grout you could look at for ya walls would be limestone

ok ive sorted the black grout, im using bal superflex wide in charcoal, just need to find out the cream grout now, i;ll try and post some closer photos

word of warning.
the q-rock tiles are top quality but have a wax surface to protect during transit, you need to clean this off before grouting or applying sealer, use hg extra with scoring pads to get it clean, always test in a small area incase of re-action with tile.

as im working today im not able to get down to any shops,do tops do hg extra ?if not do they do a alternative?

fila have a wide range and use of the fila product guide to get correct one or ring european ceramics in leeds who specialise in fila nd supply to traders and retailers alike
