hello

about to buy 35m2 of tiles

i like the look of 60x60 gray sparkle quartz but recently discovered its no good with UFH so...

can anyone recommend any quartz good enough for UFH and recomend a supplier

alternatively i can give the UFH a miss as i would rather have this look tile than the heating so can anyone recomend a good supplier on both price and quality for these tiles..

i have had quotes of

£80 psqm from topps
and
£65 psqm from discount tiles stockton

regards

I believe Gulfstone quartz (oman) are okay with ufh. Ctd stock them.

thank you macten
how is it that some quartz can be ok with UFH... is it just a matter of quality??
both topps tiles and discount tiles were happy to sell me UFH with their tiles haha
also couldnt find the grey sparkle ones on CTD website

Thank you TT what is the £5 difference for do you think.. quality or proffit and have you used either of those

thanks

Ctd will sell better quality tiles at better prices ,topps expensive and not the best quality dont like calling shops but being honest

will the tiles in the two links posted be of poor quality or just not good enough for UFH?

Topps and CTD both sell Gulf Stone I believe.
I have spoken to imports of these tiles and can confirm it is ok to lay on electric ufh but not wet in screed ufh.
They must also be fixed using a laytex based adhesive, bottle and bag, NO water.
Your chosen tiler should be aware of theses fixing requirements and maybe able to get a bit of discount for you from your chosen shop.

Tile magic and tilehq are the same company, so both quartz are identical.

But 94% quartz is pretty good.

The more quartz content, the better it will be with ufh.

Having said that, only go for one that gives you a definite "yes", otherwise you have no comeback if anthing happens.

I wouldn't except a yes from a shop unless they produce a tec sheet from the tile manufacturers stating it was ok.

i am considering both gulfstone and cheaper copies

from what i can see ... gulfstone = good for UFH but gunna cost me £80 pm

cheaper copy from tile magic = no good for UFH gunna cost £40 pm .... but will it last ??? any experience please

can probably live without the underfloor heating.. if the £40 pm tiles are decent enough to last

thank you macten

CTD will have the grey on display in store. It's down to quality and thickness and all the adhesive manufacturers I've quizzed about fitting composite tiles have all said you can't beat Gulfstone. Did my neighbours bathroom floor in grey gulfstone from CTD a couple of years ago:

Admittedly these were 30x30s but they do silver grey in 30x60, 40x40 and they can order in 60x60s. I'll find out what kind of price they give to traders.

thanks would really appreciate that... the bathroom looks lovely
im wanting the 60x60 as im doing my kitchen, hallway and dining room and thought it would be more effective

Are you sitting down Mr Professor?

£108 per m2

omg
yeah could definitly give UFH a miss

topps tiles said theres was ok for UFH and they quoted me £80 pm with not a lot of haggle?
should i ring them to see if theres is gulfstone

if not i think i will go NO UFH and just use one of those links provided for £40pm if anyone can vouch for tile magic that is

Definitely ask as I did think Topps did the Gulfstone. I'll be gobsmacked if they're selling the same tile cheaper than CTD though. Topps aren't exactly renowned for great deals!

thank you macten

can anyone vouch for tilemagic for this stuff in case i choose to go without UFH

regards

just rang topps tiles and they claim that they sell gulfstone... apparantly its all over the box when you buy them
online its 100pm but in store the lad came down to 80 fairly easily

is gulfstone the maker?

Well you need to play them off of each other. I know my local CTD would deliberately make a loss if it meant Topps not beating them on price.
