I went to price up adhesive today, any opinions on the following list please? I have taken the Unibond ready mix back after listening to you guys  I am tiling 300m ceramic tiles onto floating floor which I have boarded out with 12mm marine ply, screwed at 200mm centres. The room is 12sqm approx. So I went searching for adhesives today:

Having heard Dan extol the virtues of BAL Fastflex, I went to price it up at Topps tiles - £300! That's £21.99 for one bag of powder and £52.49 for the polymer. Gulp :icon9:
So, after some more visits, here is my list, with prices:
  • Palace Superflex 2part, 8kg bag with polymer £42.80 (Shop reckons it covers 4sqm)
  • Granflex Flexible 1 part Rapid set, 20kg bag £20 (covers 5sqm)
  • Mapei Keraquick, 20kg bag with latex additive £34.99 bag, £25 tub
The Granflex seems a great price, but presume I would need to fork out for additive? The gal in the shop reckoned I didn't need it for strengthened floor.

Any opinions on any of these as the BAL is pretty much too much 🙁 I wnat to be sure there is no lifting or cracking and am willing to pay good money, but I don't want overkill.

Any opinions welcomed thanks......

floating floors should not be tiled by rights as the expansion in this type of substrate is to great a demand for tile adhesives. schluter say you can use ditra mat depending on the movement in the floating floor . will need to contact schluter technical team for advice .
as a rule i steer clear of floating floors will cause you nowt but headache if tiles start to debond due to amount of movement in floating floors. hope this helps!!!!

Thanks for that guys, have you ever used Superflex? The reason I ask is that my local shop stocks that and not multiflex

you can use granfix ultimate flex it says on bag its suitable for floating floors i get it for£27 trade for a 20kg bag much cheaper than others and will cover greater area

Nice one. Any suggestions for suppliers? My local shop only has the one part rapid set, not the ultimate flex. Internet supplier would be good?

tile it all supply it they are based all over the north east also if you go on granfix website find their number give them a ring and ask about nearest stockist

definately ultimateflex, my local tile shop knocks it out for £60 a bag! I get it for £20... Never had any probs...

Latest update...having spoken to Granfix tech support and having found a local supplier, I am going to order Ultimate Flex adhesive, with Ultimate Flex grout also. I intend to prime first with Granfix Acrylic Based Primer.

Thanks for all the advice, I will keep you posted on results (have been taking pictures)
