Wet cutter

Hi folks,

I need some advice on the purchase of a new wet cutter. After 15 years of getting by with a £30 Wickes special which refuses to die, I want to invest in a professional cutter that can miter accurately.

Can afford around £500.

Bridge saw or portable?

Tile approximately 20% of the working year mainly in kitchen and bathrooms, with largest format of 600mm porcelain or travertine to date. Have a job pending for 610mm x 405mm travertine to a floor.

All advice gratefully received.

Many thanks,
Mark

Hi & :welcome:
I have a rubi bridge saw and a vitrex wet wheel. £100 on tile trader.
If you have been using your wickes special to do miters then the vitrex is a step up.
Dewalt D24000 is another step again, but if only 20% of my work was tiling i wouldn't want to spend that sort of money.

Thanks thompsonbrown,

Which model of Rubi cutter have you got? The 20% I carry out is high end stuff so I may consider the dewalt. Agree that it is a lot of money though.

Have a rubi Dw-200, bought it second hand a few years ago, but only use it now and again.
used it on one of my latest wetroom jobs, IMG_7991.jpg
My Vitrex just wouldn't be able to do it.

Seems to be a delay on this site for any relies I post. Am i doing something wrong on here?

Thanks for all your help guys.

I think for portability I will probably go for the Dewalt D24000 when I find the extra money. In the interim I have found a Rubi DL 200 BL on ebay for £160 new. Anyone used one of these or should I save the money towards the Dewalt.

Rubi site says it will cut 600mm but other sites are saying only 450mm in reality. I don't really get that?
