Well after 6 days and lots of sweating (when trowelling the addy over the wires) I finally finihsed my GP's 2 en-suites with porcelain 450x450 tiles and UFH.

Went for the loos wire system from warm up as the l-shaped rooms and tiolets, bidets and sinks meant a mat would have been difficult.

Finally did it, stopping at every stage to check resistance etc. Went back today and the heating is fireed up and works and it feels great. Pics attached :hurray: :hurray:

And got my £600 pay day. I know thats a bit cheap for the job but it is my Gp so gave him a good discount

cheers dave.

Really took my time on it. Unlike most of my customers my GP actually knew I had just done the course last year, and knew that I hadnt done UFH so he took a chance on me and we were both impressed.

I dont think Id do UFH again ina hurry like lol, ok maybe I will its a good earner.

PLus his plumber has got me a job as he does bathroom refurbs and was impressed enough to give mt the work, could be plenty more from this guy too as he does about 2 a month....happy days.

And cheers to Darren at NETT for the course :hurray:

Brilliant job - Thanks for posting the photo's too!

What brand UFH was used?

I used the warm up loose wire system. Doctor was loaded so wanted the best. Even used the expensive Silicon.

First one took me almost 3 hours to lay round the room, cos I got half way round and ran out of wire.

Forgot to use the spacing guide in the back of the book LOL

2nd one only took me 35 minutes.

Mind taping the wires up is a git of a job too.

Cheers varley!!

Was unsure at first cos I really wantyed two wholetiles evenly across the door threshold but that would have left a 2 inch sliver and couldnt have that!!!

Glad I did the course cos if I hadnt done the course I would have spaced them out over the threshold.

Well done mate.

How did you find it as your first UFH job? Easier than you thought? Did you cover it on your course?

I've been going nearly a year and still haven't had an UFH job yet.

Nice job Col. Referring to your comment in the original post
lots of sweating (when trowelling the addy over the wires)
You could have put SLC over the wires initially. This gives protection when you come to trowel the addy for the tiling. If you used a quick setting one, it would not have slowed you down much.

Cheers mate,I found it hard at first, Mainly cos I was unsure about it and had to keep testing resistance at every stage. The second floor took half the time the first one did, but now I've done it it doesnt seem too bad. Would do it again, as its a good earner really.

Grumpy.

Yes had originally planned to do the SLC. But then decided not to. Bad decision really as it did slow me down when trowelling the addy on. Next time for sure I would put SLC on top. Could then just fly round with the addy/

Only done one myself,(in 18mths) used SLC then addy. Big sigh of relief when it's all done and it works! Customer delighted as I suggested insulation board on top of concrete as builder told them just to leave the heating on for two days to warm up!!!!!
