Hi Guys and Gals

I am instaling a floor with underfloor heating and the customer has requested black and red victorian tiles in a chequer pattern.

Where can I get this type of tile from? (leicester area)

Are there any problems laying these sort of tiles onto UFH, (I normally use Varme)?

Should I self level the floor after laying the UFH cables?

Any other relevant bits of advice I could follow!

As ever your replys are greatly appreciated.

HAPPY NEW YEAR.

Ian

Hi Ian..

Original style do that type of tile and they can be bought from any branch of CTD.....

As for slc over the ufh then i would deffo say yes....get it nice and flat....i use mapei fibre plan..excellent leveler...again from CTD...

I think your nearest is birmingham..

You'll want to swap that underfloor heating supplier for UHeat using the forum discount code which you can find in the TilersForums Arms. If you spoke to Aaron from Varme, he's the Aaron that's now working at UHeat, he'll fill you in on all the benefits.

Though that aside, you'll want the floor really flat when you come to tile it, so yes, SLC, and a good smooth one at that, Mapei Fibreplan as Dave says I hear is good.

If you like the job and would consider becoming a bit of a specialist in the field then consider checking out a victorian tiling course. Though if you've got a steady hand and are good at setting out and whatnot you might find the viccy floors a doddle. I didn't though to be fair, I found them to be a bit tricky using the more mosaic-sized tiles, with borders, on large halls and the likes.

Bloody nice job though mate by the sounds of it.
