To skim or not to skim - Tile Advice

Guys

Am tiling a shower area and bath surround in an extension.
The walls are a mix of block work and studs.
Question is, in an ideal scenario what is the best construction/treatment for the walls? Where a wall is going to be plastered up to a wet area would you get the plasterer to 'feather' in to that area or plaster it all then tank it?

I’d use a waterproof board such as Wedi or Jackoboard.

Really depends on what tiles you plan on installing ? , can the plasterer not fix a stop bead where the tiling starts and plasterer up to that , and then tank the wet area before tiling . Kop

Pay for a plasterer and tanking when you can fix a few boards!!

I would get the plasterer to feather the plaster into the shower area by about 50mm then tank.....simples.

no matter which board you use, you still have a transition between the plastered wall and the shower area. I’d skim up to where the tile starts or feather it in. You don’t want a thick skim whatever happens.
