Tiling a Patio Table

My winter project is to make a tile top patio table using 75mm frostproof ceramic tiles. I will be tiling onto Hardibacker board and would appreciate advice on which makes/types of adhesive and grout to use, bearing in mind that the table will be standing outside in all weathers in sunny north-east Scotland

I have used 'Mapei Ultracolour plus' for all my outdoor projects and find it's really good, no cracking or discoloration so far even after heavy frost, and coping with the salty Yorkhsire Coast air. It's water and stain repellant, for indoors and out, suitable for shower areas even, available in lots of colours and despite others' experiences I have found it fine to work with. 🙂

To concur with Mosaic Girl, Ultracolor Plus is excellent stuff, also have a look at Mapei Keraquick for your adhesive.

I use alot of adhesive brands and im quite happy if its a reputable brand from a reputable supplier to trust what it says. ie, external use, waterproof, frostproof etc etc.
Cant go wrong with bal, mapai, ardex, dunlop etc
