Hi Guys,

I need help!! Basically I employed a cowboy and now there is a problem I can't contact him!

I had my floor tiled (over 200sqm) prior to turning the under floor heating on. Now the heating has been on and off for over a month the tiles sound hollow when I walk over them! I feel they will crack in time and I haven't moved in yet so need a quick solution!! Will i need to take all the tiles up? It's not all of them just 3/4.

Thanks in advance.
Hi, best bet is to get a reputable tiler on board first, plenty to choose from on here, find one near you, and get him to take up a tile you suspect is loose to see what is going on first. :)

the tec sheet for epojet says for concrete and metal. So maybe not suitable. Also the surface to be bonded must be clean and sound which will not be the case if this is a unsanded gypsum type screed.
but good thought :)

I've heard it has been used on a dodgy floor in a restaurant in a major attraction in that London which apparently from what I heard was spot fixed and where they were washing with wet mops water was pooling underneath and starting to smell . So come the day of injection it drove the water out and stuck the floor down . But I am gullible I do like to believe what people tell me , I even think politicians tell the truth

So if I was to take up how would I prep the floor and could I re use the tiles if they don't break?

were you not give a brochure by the screeding company in which it would have told you what the screed type was, how long to dry and how to prep it ready for whatever was going to cover it?

Yes it was a Gyvlon screed called Thermio. And all it says is to sand once dry. The screed was poured in September last year. I also saw the tiler use some sort of prime base after sanding and he used a flex adhesive as he said this will be ok when the floor warms up and expands??
I just need to know what a tiler will need to do so I don't get ripped off again! Unfortunately there are a lot of people who think they are a trades man because they can do things to an ok standard!!
