Tilers: Why Not Say Good Morning Before Work?

how's the eye, dog and van mate?
Eye's.....nearly back to normal...thank the Lord, as it could of gone either way.
The dog is doing good....last set of blood test showed her liver function was back in the normal range.....it's costing us £60 a month on medication ...but worth every penny.
The vans fixed !! ...new turbo, new sensors , new air filter, new fuel filter....new engine (joke)....only down side....I'm £1300 lighter in the pocket !!

One of yours ?😛

Funnily enough Andy, NO, however, this client did call me around 6 weeks ago to get to try and help his fitters/builder because they were struggling.
I was too busy at the time.
They were struggling with one particular aspect.
So I talked them through it on the phone, and they managed to overcome it. (Nothing to do with the laying before you ask 😀)
I heard no more, until yesterday.
Apparently about 30% has cracked.
Given its failed so quickly, and trying to read between the lines of the info I've been given, points to two things I feel.
1. Complete installer error in technique.
2. Concrete plastic shrinkage. 😉
So we'll see in a little bit.
Won't be fun lifting a tile tho and leaving it in a worse state than it is already.

Keep us informed then.....sounds interesting as to why it failed...
Although the fact you mentioned builder having something to do with the install doesn't take much working out..🙂

Hate Richmond park at weekends, bloody cyclists reek havoc!!

not b&q tubed adhesive then 🙁

Well we have a winner!
15 tiles on floor @timeless john

9 cracked!
Full ripout and retile, no question.
And our winner was.......nuuuuumberrrr 1

Spot the mistake apart from tiling directly over Polypipe boards fitted with only a 1mm antifracture mat.
No back buttering at all and about 15-20mm deep adhesive.

Oh and a couple of unique design changes cos they cut the tile wrong and patched it in.
More lips than mick jagger (sorry mick)
Grout joints 2-6mm and more stepping joints than an aerobic class. 😀😛
