I think its good for a forum to be strong enough for people to exxpress their views openly and without resorting to abuse

so im opposed to a ban on freedom of speech, which after all is the basis of our society

After listening to several radio debates about the Pastor proposing to burn the Quoran the general consensus seemed to be:

Did he have a right to do it?.....yes
Was he right to do it? .............no

I'm ok with that. This thread started from a joke ( still think it's funny) into a good arguement and debate so why put rules on that? This is a great forum.

i would normally agree with that dan:thumbsup:
but in this instance it has passed of better than in previous threads so it shows the maturity of the forum as a group, however i would ask people to think before they post as what may seem a joke can also be a sensative subject to others(not a dig at mark by the way).

this has been on the radio all day

theres a massive backlash to his visit with a lot of demonstrations planned

I think its a good thing he has come here if he learns from the reaction his comments and statements have had on ordinary decent people

lets hope he listens and takes some of it away with him

in the meantime I am going to sit back and watch him get his come uppance

29 million :yikes:

how many police officers are losing their jobs not to mention nurses etc

its an absolute disgrace

it would have been cheaper to send his supporters to see him

Oh, boy... 29 million... ever get the feeling you're in the wrong job? And how much expenses did Gooner want per day for working away from home? oh boy... not good, not good at all.... :nonod:

I haven't read this thread and don't intend to lol, all I will say is why does he have to take up so much tv time on prime channels, I can only get 3 in the caravan, down to 2 for tonight now

the popes visit is a PR sham he should have concentrated on the inocent people his preists molested if me or you had done what they did we would be in prison i wont be watching the news until he has went home and 29 million quid in a recession :yikes: what a joke!

It's lovely to see the crowds in Scotland out showing their support to the pope, fair play to you all.
He's only human like the rest of us and a church leader,it's not his fault about the abusive priests,we have abusers in every walk of life and they're all a disgrace.
So many anti-pope people on here,i thought we had enough of them here in Northern Ireland, lol.
But we all know who they look up to.... lol.

The issue was with the church taking little action. It's always turned a blind eye rather than deal with it which almost suggests it condones it.

I agree Sandy,an awful episode in the church and a bloody disgrace. It has drive thousands away from the church and who knows where it will end.
People still have their faith though and that's why the turn out is so big for the pope,he has questions to answer and i hope he does.

I am still waiting for Gooners quote...I have a feeling I might need a strong drink when Ive read it!

His beer allowance will have to be cut, and thats an end to it.

CATHOLIC COFFEE

Four Catholic men and a Catholic woman were having coffee.

The first Catholic man tells his friends, "My son is a priest, when he walks into a room, everyone calls him 'Father'."

The second Catholic man chirps, "My son is a Bishop. When he walks into a room people call him 'Your Grace'."

The third Catholic gent says, "My son is a Cardinal. When he enters a room everyone says 'Your Eminence'."

The fourth Catholic man then says, "My son is the Pope. When he walks into a room people call him 'Your Holiness'."

Since the lone Catholic woman was sipping her coffee in silence, the four men give her a subtle, "Well....?"
She proudly replies, "I have a daughter,

slim,

tall,

38D breast,

24" waist,

34" hips.

When she walks into a room people say,

"Oh My God."

i have never understood why fat-cat;s ,bosses, footballer;s politicians modal;s and all the celebrties that have no skill;s like playing instruments , are on the money that they are !!! it make;s a mockery of all hard working people, and it is proof to me that our society
has gone badly wrong, thank;s to all these weak willed people we allow to govern us, so yes £50 a night is a joke when compared to there money, but fair given the limit;s that i have to work within, oh and yes if i could find a public silly enough to pay me silly money to then yes i would be on the same gravy train as them and laughing at you lot as well!!

I've never understood it either, you're not alone there... but are rich people necessarily happier? They breathe the same air and are no more alive than you and me... in the end being really alive and loving it means appreciating it all... no amount of money can influence your sense of appreciation...

there was an intresting program a while ago on tv that assessed what people should really be paid

tradesmen came out well ahead of doctors , lawyers etc

i see very rich peep;s all the time in my work for 35 year;s now and take it from me alot of them are very unhappy !! you see they alway;s want more!!! so they are never happy with there lot!!!

Well there you go then....

On the radio last week on Jeremy Vine Radio 2 an economics professer from a Glasgow university came out with a solution to the national debt. If everyone in the country worth over £1million were taxed 20% of their entire fortune it would clear the national debt instantly. The follow through would be that the FTSE would go through the roof and they would get nearly all their money back.
