opinions would be grateful, what would be your thoughts on the pros and cons of having limestone split face slips with tight joints in a wet area?

Any pics Doug? my doubts about tight joints in wet areas is always capillary action. I presume there will be enough joint for grout?

similar to the thread you posted a little while ago Phil,(but if you could post an image to save me trawling through the threads I'd be grateful ), at the moment it's all in the planning stage and I have my opinions about this, but I've been asked to get a general consensus amongst fellow pro's:thumbsup:

Sorry Doug, can't recall that post, was it the slate slips? sorry.😳

they're those interlocking slates Phil that have more lips than Sting's mates in the rainforest..

butt joints or very small joints with uneven surfaces in a wet / bathroom area! Might as well bath in a petri dish:lol:

Just twigged Doug, you said limestone😳 same problem though. My eyes or brain need looking at,

Cheers guys, the customer in question is......my wife!!! .....I said that they shouldn't be done in a wet area but swmbo didn't believe me and wanted more opinions:thumbsup:

I'm gonna have to compromise, the pitbull...err...wife....is adamant that she wants them, so I''ll rip slate down on my wet cutter to various widths so at least I can get a 2-3mm joint in them, oh she doesn't want them coming down in a plumb line with the field tiles but wants them cutting into field tiles in a random jagged pattern, they do say that you shouldn't do work for engineers and teachers....why oh why did I marry an engineering lecturer:lol:

just tiled a bathroom feature wall in a shower area with 2 alcoves in limestone split face tile (300mm x 110 mm piece )that varied in thickness from 20 - 30mm .area was 8 m2 .
left a 2mm joint between and then grouted using a pointing gun to try to minimise grout on rough tiles. bit of a pain to be honest but the finish looked fantastic !
whole shower area was tanked using mapei tanking kit from screwfix(very good product).
will be putting pics up soon and rumour is the house (and bathroom tiling etc )is going to be featured in a national mag !
