hi guys. i am going to have a go at fitting split face slate tiles on my kitchen walls but need some advice on how best to deal with electrical sockets and the best way to get it neat as the slate is very uneven.

Either butt them up to the edge of the socket rather than trying to go behind or if you want them behind, sort through them trying to find the ones with least variations in depth and use these around the sockets I would think..

Move the sockets to the worktops...????never seen that before. Had the same issue before so I'll try my best to explain. As Angrypirate said you can try to find the flattest ones and use them. Another way is cut through the mesh that holds the tiles together and remove the thicker bits of slate. Cut a similar bit of the right thickness from another tile and swap them...so the area around the plug is flatter. Another way is to just tile around the plug and let the adhesive go off....then use a small chisel and split the thicker tiles that cause the plug to sit uneven. your'e only removing about 10mm of tile nearest the plug....if the tiles are that uneven this looks best as you don't end up with a really flat area around every plug. I hope this makes sense......all the best.

Fused switch could go in wall hung units or in lower units next to appliances
