Well was sitting in the sainsbury car park waiting to pick the wife up and a feller asked if i tiled floors yes i replyed gave him my business card, result going to look at his floor later on so having my van sign written has got me one job (if he agrees with my estimate) hopefully should pay for it self in the long run .

Well done postie mate...happens all the time when i park up as well....so it has it advantages doesnt it mate........dave...

I have no doubts you will recoup the cost of the sign writing. Probably the best form of direct advertising in my opinion. Sadly my BMW van (estate) would look a bit stupid with sign writing so I suppose I will have to wait until I can justify a van.

Good luck

Was going to get some of those magnetic panels made up but they are about 70 notes a pair. Problem with writing something on the car is that I also use it for my accounting as well!, Though most of my accounting clients know I have branched out into tiling, might look a bit strange to potential new customers if I turn up in a vehicle sign written for tiling..

Magnetics can get nicked I guess though.

How much did it cost for the van to be sign written postie ?

Had to laugh today there was a tiler who had those bits of cardboard you get at the market with prices on, he had cut them out like a star and sunflower one was pink the other yellow on one of them he had no VAT and on the other had wall and floor tiling £10 an hour both stuck to the side windows of his estate car it looked terrible TBH made him look a right cowboy.

Sh!t he nicked my idea

Hope he dosen't work around my way, this job in currently doing works out over double his price, lol

Watch magnetic signs............they don't seem to like metallic paint.

WELL, they did'nt like my metallic van.............had to go back to signwriters and get them to take them off.......made a right mess of my paintwork. Then went for the normal sticky signs.

Have a look on ebay for car and van signs. Vinyl sticky or magnetic for about £30 for 2 panels.

Grumpy I have an estate and my business is called Eclipse Tiling.I do tiling obviously and a bit of roof tiling. The back window says Eclipse Tiling(picture of an eclipse above as a logo) and my phone numbers.I also have a magnetic strip on either side of my car.I have 2 sets one says Wall & Floor Tiler and a disciption of works and the other says Roof Repair Specialist.I change them round depending on what job I'm turning up to.Works well for me.The 4 magnetic strips which look great cost £100 for the lot.

Just the sort of thing I was consdering, just never got round to sorting it yet. Not too worried about my paintwork, cars done 172000 and the lacquer is coming off anyway.

Aye, but it keeps going at the moment. When I start making big bucks I might be able to change to something a little newer, and also run a van!

Nice little earner though using your private vehicle through a ltd co. Can bill myself 40p per mile tax free for the first 10,000 miles, reduces profit so less corp tax to pay.

i got magnetic panels made up 2x2 ft (x2) + 2x1ft for back door, £82.75p.
bargain! plus i've had a few calls since i put them on van, i wondered weather they'd be safe but upto now no-one has touched them!! touching wood!!!!
as long as its not too big for the panels no -one knows any differance!!!!

Mines a 4x4 so i got a wheelcover for the back printed up with the name & number etc, looks great🙂

I've got the next few weeks out of my vans sign writing. I had a postie come up to me yesterday and asked me to do his kitchen and bathroom. Seeing him tomorrow. I live on a busy main road, and I find bits of paper on my van all the time. Life is good.🙂

I dont want to be negative but arent they a few downsides with a signwritten advert - because its practically a 24/7 rolling advert for people to come nick your tools as well?
Do you people make sure your van is alarmed when working on a job - or whenever its full of tools?

signsandshirts.co.uk are worth a look. it has just cost me £117 to have my kangoo done side and back.
You give them an idea of what you are looking for and they do the rest. Unlimited proofs until they get it right. Very good service for the money
