The tiler has been laying rustic black slate modular from Topps Tiles. We are really disappointed with the way it is laid as there are numerous trip hazards with some tiles significantly lower than others and sharp corners sticking up. The tiler has blamed the tiles and said that's what they look like. IMAG0027.jpgIMAG0034#1.jpgIMAG0022.jpgIMAG0024.jpgIMAG0021.jpg

Is this right?

Terrible, not a fan of slate myself but that is horrendous :yikes:

As a matter of interest, how many m2 is it and how long did it take him ?

30 m2 and started monday of last week but had to rip other tiles up so starting laying wednesday and finished yesterday. It's a insurance company contractor following repairs to the house.

more time could have been taken to get the tiles more even, have a word with topps if they recommended the tiler

They didn't it's part of an insurance company job

You need to speak to your insurance company. Also, I don't think that is calibrated slate, it looks to be uncalibrated, which should have been graded into different thicknesses before laying.

No, they didn't - part of insurance work after underpinning in the kitchen, so didn't get a choice of tiler
