Sealing top of tiles????? - TilersForums.com

Hi, im just on the finishing touches of installing my new shower room. the ceiling has been newly skimmed on boards and ready for painting. There is a very thin gap between where the wall tile and ceiling join.....My question is that would it be best to use silicone all the way around or would caulk be suitable??? please advise

I use decorators caulk.

I always suggest caulk as you cannot overpaint silicone

Wouldnt caulk allow moisture to pass through at the top???

I wouldn't think so possibly if there was a constant build up of steam in a tight alcove or low ceiling but an exstraction should have been installed to prevent that

Caulking filler for me also..

I'm a silicone kind of guy. I colour match to the grout so that it is inconspicuous and if you do a decent job with the silicone then it doesn't matter whether you can paint it or not.

Or you could use a water based silicon
