Having dealt with putting at least 4 basalt disasters right!!! My advice as always is test your sealer on some spare tile or offcut first to see what sort of result you get and that you are happy prior to application. Then once you are happy follow the application instructions. I personally always use Aqua Mix sealers.

Hi,

I agree with tel, always follow manufacturers instructions, test on a spare tile with Basalt as in my opinion it is the trickiest of stones to seal right. I have found that using a water based impregnating sealant works the best, as I have found that the spirit based ones get rejected by the stone and go waxy.

Do not, I repeat (!) do not use a surface sealant and it will go blotchy and eventually peel or create patches in the Basalt.

Thanks,

Tom
