Rubi tile cutter

Hi Im new to the forum today, so hi to everyone, my wife is ready to start the tiling in our bathroom, we have bought tiles from Tubs and Tiles in Telford they are 600mm ceramic, she needs a tile cutter, so what rubi would you suggest for her, ive heard these are the best tile cutters, or what other tile cutter would you suggest ? any sites with your suggestions would be appreciated. regards Kanhatiger

Rubi cutters are great and Tradetiler is the best place to get them. Are the tiles 600 x 600mm?
What adhesive are you supplying her?

Would be great to see pics when its done.

The Tiles we have are 600mm x 300mm we have bought ultra tile pro grip as the adhesive £7 for 15kgs we have 4 but may need 1 or 2 more, we have been looking at the rubi tile cutters, we missed out on a rubi tr600s on e bay today, but we are seriously looking at the rubi star n 60 plus best we have seen is £89 odds.. wife's a good tiler shes already done the kitchen here in the uk and at our Indian home, admittidly the indian kitchen tiles were very easy, you can see them on our web site. look on page "our india home" will post the bathroom here in the UK when she's finished, we will take any advise on tile cutters. regards steve

Really...what adhesive do you think we should use ? we would take these tubs back if they were not right..thanks for your info

if your tile supplier stocks Ultra, I'd go for the Ultra sp+es, a flexible powder adhesive with a longer than normal pot life

You might need something for the small cuts, something that does it wet and don't forget the rubbing block, esential for keeping it sharp

You could always try a cutter that the professionals use.....it starts with S and ends in IGMA.

really appreciate the help here, different views on tools is always healthy, i never dismiss anything until ive taken a look, we are really keen to know more about this tub ultra product we have...is it better to get a powder and mix it yourself ? we get one chance of doing our bathroom right, and we really want it to last and look good

hi kan,yes a powdered one will be better than tubbed especially if large tiles are used

In a bathroom its best to use powder and mix yourself, quite vigoursley until slightley stiff then comb it on

most deffo a powdered addy kanhatiger, the dispersion (tubbed) adhesive will not properly set with the size of your tiles as it relies on air to help it set.

I have a job to do in Berkshire in two weeks, I will order the latest (pull) version 900mm and send it to you, you can have a play for a fortnight and send it on to me, but you have to report your findings pro versus against........Deal?

I think chille means a sharpening block, it removes old blunt diamonds from a wet cutter blade, personally I just use a piece of sandstone instead.

ok will go on e bay now and take a look at them, never even heard of them before so need to learn. my tile cutter is in our house in India, we took it out in Oct, never finished the 7th bathroom, so left it their, but when we got home to the uk decided to do the bathroom here, thats why we need to buy one, im thinking maybe some web sites cant be dispayed on here, but if you can work this out take a look at my wifes tiling in Inda w w w . s t e v e h o l e . p i c z o . c o m being we live near th e Jungle Indians use sand and cement to tile with with just cement and water as the adhesive..very different

what sizes/material are the tiles and what is the wall surface the tiles are going on??
