Hi I used to do a lot of tiling but am now a little out of practice (and possibly confidence).☺️ I’ve been asked to tile the inside walls of a porch which are not exposed to the wet due to double glazed doors but I guess there’s always a possibility of some damp. The walls themselves are part rendered block/brick and also part unrendered breeze block, all of which have been painted with emulsion.
I was aiming to use a wire brush to score through the emulsion and then apply a primer before using a cement based adhesive(?!?).
Not sure how this sounds....please don’t laugh too loudly 😂
Just looking for any advice really as to approach and choice of products to use. I generally used Bal products before but open to any recommendations. Thanks in advance

I'd probably overboard and mechanically fix a backerboard like wedi/jacko/Nicobond xps board and the and tile to that. It should also provide some waterproofing in the case damp does come through.

Any decent cement based adhesive should be fine, bal, Mapei, ardex etc 😊👍

What tiles are you looking to put up in there?

Sorry had no end of connectivity issues😢. Thanks for the response.
That sounds good. Tiles are ceramics - 9mm thick. Is the board thickness an issue? I’m guessing 6mm would be inadequate so was going to go for 12mm
