Has any one used the quick point mortar gun ? or any ideas on how to point bricks 20mm thick quickly ? its hard work grouting them with sand and cement :mad2:

There's the easy point stuff thats desined specifically for those pointing guns, it mixes up really smooth so stops the gun clogging up. I think travis perkins stock it, it is a few quid a bag though.

A giant version of an icing bag BIGGER THAN IT LOOKS 600 mm long x 350 mm wide

Very controllable flow, quick to refill and easy to clean

10 mm hole in the end - You can insert a normal siliconong nozel first for fine joints

weight 200 g

Price: £3.99 £4.79 Including VAT at 20%

Dave i am good with cakes lol but dont fancy that with 150 mts of bricks

Hello all first post. How wide are the joints, normal brickwork 10mm?

The joints are typically around 15mm, the bricks are 20mm deep, 235mm x 75mm is the average brick size, why ? do you have something in mind ? so as pjc says, over 150m2 that's a lot of pointing.

Well just an idea but PJC . I have used one on a couple of patios and it cut the labour time on pointing by two thirds. There is a video on the site. I will be the first to admit that there is a technique required, and the secret is to mix the mortar right. But if you can get it right then it is good. Be happy to help to advise if needed. Just a thought. 150m though? Rather you than me!!

make sure you don't put any grit in there it will clog up! i've done my patio with one it's 50m2 easy once you get the mixture right, mix it in a clean bucket not a gritty wheel barrow...

This was an old one I just found while looking on the web about 2000 sq mts later I have the answer lol

I use a easy point gun from screwfix , we fill it with an empty 1ltr milk plastic bottle with half the bottom cut off. Works a treat, but if useing sand and cement you need to add some feb mix and whisk well. Tap the barrel empty before reloading. I used to repoint loads in a past life and find the gun great for grouting large tiles.

Thank mate but it's all I do nowadays it does work yes but have specialist guns nowadays you would not believe how quick they are compared with the rest but keep it to myself as my main competitors copy me and try to undercut me everywhere I go

I ve got an idea as I ran a gunpoint franchise for 10 years, those machines do 70m2 a day. In the good old days at £15 a m that was a good living.

It's hard work trying to get bricklayers builders achetects to even listern they won't believe it till you show them but that's the hard bit they won't even look :mad2:

I can't find such a thing as a easy point gun

i was taught by and old school builder years ago how to do tuck pointing this decades before patent mortar injection devices thin mortar joints were tackled with thin jointing tools some probably 5mm wide the tools were flat blades with a wooden handle it takes patience but results look good
