hi, my kitchen floor tile grout is looking a bit dull.

I've gone over the whole floor with a stiff brush and mixture of soap, bleach and water and its brought it all up nice and bright, apart from around the oven and hob where it is still dull.

I think its from oil splashes etc as the grout doesn't look dirty, just darker grey. the original colour was a light grey and the make is BAL.

I've read some good reviews about aquamix heavy duty grout cleaner and it looks pretty reasonable priced for the job.

just want a second opinion really, it says its a degreaser and removes "body oil"? whatever that means?! lol.

is this likely to remove soaked in oil and cooking stains from my grout? the actual tiles are spotless, as is 90% of the grout now, I just want it all back to its original colour.

thanks.

Aquamix heavy duty grout cleaner is very good and it may remove stains. But if they have soaked into the grout too far you may not be able to remove them. I would use grout colorant on the grout as this will bring all of the grout back the same colour plus it seals the grout making it easier to clean

You can buy a poultice (Stain remover) which you leave on over night and then remove especially good for removing stains like fat and grease. just search on the internet.
Or you could get a stain remover for grease and fat and make your own poultice and add it to that and leave it on over night.

wow, that fullers earth is reasonably priced! has to be worth a shot..

would you use the grease stain remover?

I take it you have used this stuff before?

I could do with cleaning up some of my kitchen grout. So let me know how you get on. I'll do whatever you did that works. 🙂

I found some hg floor tile spot stain remover in the shed and I think its done it.. whacked it on neat and scrubbed in, left for 10 mins, wiped down with a sponge and mopped off with clean water.

still drying at the minute but looking good. worst case it will need another treatment...

might look at sealing the grout sometime to avoid this again..
