Went to look at a job today...external fibre glass flat roof, ceramic 30x30 tiles have completely delaminated from surface, grout all cracked and missing...no adhesive stuck to the fibreglass all peeled off with ease.

How would you recommend re tiling this to prevent the same happening? Bal tech recommended fast flex. Mapei recommendeds keralastic epoxy adhesive.

The roof is recieving a high amount of water from 2 downpipes coming from a conservatory above it...(i'm think of re routing these away from the surface) there is slight deflection.

Total area 17m2, I'm also wondering if I'll need expansion joints.

Thanks

I filled a pint glass with water as far as it would go without overflowing. Placed in middle of floor bounced up and down round glass, it rippled quite alot but did not over flow. Tried in several other places also...one area at the far end of balcony a drop of water came over the edge of the pint glass.

That is an ideal scenario for an un-coupling membrane....

Stick it down and tile with keraquick and latex plus..

Hi. The fibreglass is not even...theres bumps etc all over it..I belieive uncoupling membrane needs an even surface...and what would you stick the membrane down with?

Do I need to consider some sort or drainage system for the flat roof or will an adhesive suitable for use in wet conditions be fine?

Is there no falls on it..?

Schluter do the drainage bits for balcony systems.

When you say bumps.. how bad..?

To be honest the bumps arn't that bad...but the surface is certainly not flat...but I will tell the customer that I will go with the existing levels...I didn't check the fall but it certainly looked and felt like the whole surface fell towards the guttering at the end of the roof as it should.

Do you reckon that will be ok to membrane maybe just level it out slightly with adhesive in places?

Maybe I should give the customer the option with or without membrane?

Personally i would go the membrane route..

The adhesive above keralastic or keraquick and latex plus will stick the membrane and the tiles..
