Can anyone tell me the most effective method of polishing a granite worktop?I'd rather not go down the road of hiring a large machine but if that's the only option....

What is the reason for polishing - is it to bring back a polished finish on a dull worktop or is the worktop damaged/scratched in some way?

granite work tops are difficult to re-polish with the correct buffing machine... my advise would be to consult a granite top fabricator and seek advise or a price to do the job....
a DIY effort could ruin the tops....dave.

Polishing is an expert's job. Unless polished properly, the granite will look dull and your money will all go in vain. Call someone who is an expert in this field. What about Link removed. ?Did my kitchen quite well recently.
