A friend of mine recently went to a large well known DIY shed for various bits and bobs after moving into her new flat, anyway, one of the questions she had was if they stocked a replacement barrel for a Yale lock (one of the higher grade security ones) anyway, they said they weren't sure but if she bought the unit in then they could advise properly.....

Her reply was 'It's the only lock on the door, so if I did that, then the flat would be unlocked and empty'

Their reply 'Take the lock off, put a big box behind the front door and leave via the back door - people do it all the time, you'll be fine!'

She politely declined, but it made me wonder what other gems of wisdom you guys might of heard over the years?

love it

when will people learn to stay out of these places

mind you been and queued came out best on the which test for rotted manure, I wet myself when I read the results as ive been saying that for years

What if she hasnt got a back door some flats dont lol

She's got a back door, it leads to a courtyard with a 7' wall to climb - into someone else's garden!

How did someone seriously think it was a viable option anyway? I might of asked if it was possible to bring the lock in, but no way would I of suggested what they did! Numpties!

I rarely set foot in them, I did go to one once over a bank holiday weekend. They had some fool in the car park helping people to park, he started backing me in to a space until I asked him if he wouldn't mind accompanying me out on the road all week, as I always struggled to park! It took him a while to realise I was being sarcastic.....

well, bobby and quacks staff do tend to be of an older generation maybe he remembers the good ole days when you could leave your money out on the doorstep for the milkman to collect, but that truly is shocking what he suggested.

No matter how fast you run at automatic sliding doors in stores they will always open in time ....good one for the kids if you don't like them

When I was about four years old my older brother told me when the car cigar lighter stopped glowing red it was safe to stick my thumb against it.

Don't forget to dot and dab the tiles, saves you a fortune in adhesives

Don't listen to those "now-it-all's" on Tilers Forum, you need to get yourself to B&Q for the right gear and advice....... (;o)
