Backer board?

I'm gonna be fitting 15mm thick slate tiles to my dining room wall, what kind of backer board should i use and any idea of the price i should be paying?

You want to use hardibacker 500 (12.5mm)....

What is the walls structure..?..is it stud work or brick...etc

Going direct to Brick
Was gonna direct bond it then add in a few fixings as well.
How much should i be paying for this?

I pay about £9 a board from Topps for the 12mm sheets. They measure 1200x800 (.92m2)
