I always tell customers that purchase addy from Topps to take it back and get a refund. They usually agree when I tell them what I can supply the adhesive to them for :lol:.

i priced a job last week and materials were there already and the addy was the grout too:yikes::yikes:
No way i said,i'll get the adhesive and grout,they took the stuff back and traded for more tiles:lol:

he wants me to tile it! the 'peak', falls on a joint but the plumber has to put a shower on that wall. Pointed this out but attitude was, plumber will sort it. I wouldn't like to do it !

Again we keep coming up against this stuff, makes our jobs harder. Also makes it look like we are trying to con them,( the customer) by suggesting the correct methods:mad2:

your better off supplying your own addy and grout etc even if its at cost price at least you get to use the materials you are used too, the problem is most customers get persuaded to buy the addys etc when they buy the tiles. so the tile shop gets a better sale at that time. and the person behind the counter hasnt seen the job and just sells them what they think they may need.

some customers insist on supplying the lot, which was the case this time. I gave them a specific list of mats which they took with them to look at tiles in one town (darlo dave) but saw some tiles in stockton so decided to buy addy etc there and relied on CTD selling them the correct gear! (expensive bal gear of course)

recently done a kitchen(granite floor and faux mosaic walls) and 2 bathroom floors both travertine,customer wanted me to lay the floor with unibond tubbed addy as b@q said it's the correct stuff:yikes: after lots of huffing and puffing finally got her to get the mapei gear from b&q because her freind worked there and got huge dicounts for her,still came back with grey grout because again she was told thats what to use in floors(black polished granite:mad2🙂 which they sold her. the grout is still in the back of the van after i went myself and bought black:incazzato:
