Hi all,

Would much appreciate some advice for fixing these boards please.

Do the boards need to be fix on addy if so what size trowel should i use? or can i just screw them down if so which screws do i need to use? or do i need to do both the above for fixing?

Thanks alot Rob.

6mm trowel with flexible adhesive and screw down, I don't use screws that are thicker than the floor board, turbo gold from screwfix..

The boards don't add strength though so make sure the floor is solid

Hi Rob
I use a 6mm trowel with the rapid adhesive fairly soft then walk and then stub the boards with my feet a couple of mill to create a solid bed.
There should be screw markers on the board.
I use Turbo gold screws from Screwfix maybe 4.5 x 20/25.
Alot cheaper than using hardiebacker screws

Never used no more ply.
Not had any problems when i've used hardibacker so not changing.
As white beam mentioned flexi adhesive

Hardie would be my preference but never used NMP..but on the intructions NMP says that the tiling side of their boards have to sealed with sbr.

Where did you find that info? I have never herd that, have they changed it? The info I have read from NMP say not to prime.

Hardie and NMP are the same product really, the guys who make NMP took the design for hardie and get the same boards made abroad (and have made a mint). I use NMP and my only problem with it is that they recommend an expanding adhesive than you gun onto the boards before you lay and screw them down, I think you would get better coverage with tile adhesive.

If ufh is being used the tiling side of the board needs to be primed

I've never primed NMP and (touchwood !) never had a problem so far. The glue-down system seems to work fine. As above, use screws which won't go right through the floorboards (so you don't punture any pipes or wires below), Screwfix turbogold 4x25 or Reisser Cutter 4x25 are both good with the Reissers working slightly better near the edges of the boards.

Of course. I am a doughnut.

Sorry I thought you meant they need priming before tiling, had a heart attack!
