Been with a supply company 31 years as it my local, there was a change in management 4 months ago , new manager seemed ok , well went in as normal putting materials and good on my account, 3 months later been overcharged 528.00 , and 31.98 of tiles in did not order ,
So i went in to sort this out , was told the grout prices had increased from 10.29 to 15.50 per bag as it was on special in feb, as for the other overcharge his staff could not give me the same prices as the manager and under-manager and thats the reason i was over charged ,offered me a discounted price on 3 products to make it up and it looked like a good deal, went into the shop and what he had offered was on special and i was getting it 4p cheaper than anyone else, i hit the roof and went over his head , we rang area manager to sort this out , 7 oclock got a phone call from the manager offering me 500 and 31.68 as a credit and would be sorted out the next day , well we rang the accounts 4 days later and nothing had been said to the accounts . they listened to what had happened and agreed they would credit are account with the money as a good will jester , , but i cant trust this store anymore so iam moving my accounts, i will say i am gutted as i have held a account there for 30 years and it has changed hands 4 times in 30 years but its business and i need to be able to trust my suppliers that they will not rip me off.

Sorry to hear this mate, but I can relate:mad2:

I had a similar scenario with a large well known supplier for a lot of years and when they were taken over by an even larger Group the management of the place were all given fancy titles and all of a sudden the personal touch that had made them so successful went completely out of the window:incazzato: I got invoiced for £1000's of materials, that I hadn't even got of them, and had went to another supplier, because of their stock levels but the 'computer said' so that was it!! :incazzato: Attitudes just changed overnight😛rrr:

Thats bad news that.walk and im sure you'll find a new supplies who will be worth while.

that's very bad mate and i understand your reaction here, i would do the same as you, good-luck in finding another supplier mate

a lot of these places seem to get to gready imo

A builder mate of mine checks every single invoice. He reckons he's overcharged on at least 10% of all invoices with a lower discount and the suppliers (usually large builders merchants) always blame the computer system. Oddly he's never been undercharged. I'll let you draw your own conclusion.

I'm sure there are other suppliers who want your money marbleman, stuff the greed and incompetence

went into my local builders suppliers the other week, i usually pick up bits and bobs on the way to work, heres the big spender somebody said, Fine, i said, Jewsons across the road can have my grand a year then! Apologies couldn't come fast enough!

Its funny i could understand if i only spent a few Quid, but on average 30-45 k a year and + all my contacts use them as well , well that will change now
Dont trust anyone in business i should know better- good luck all and hope you are all busy

Makes me laugh. it's only good will when they do you a favour, not when they give you back what they have already taken from you.

I only recently discovered that my Dulux account had been taken off the top tier discount by somebody in head office:mad2: Seems that when they set up my internet ordering account somebody's finger must have slipped:incazzato:. Must have been overcharged for months before I noticed, you just take it as a given that the boys in store are looking after you.

Marbleman,
You have been dealing with this company for over 30 years. I can only presume that it has been a happy relationship for most of that time. You deal with them because you trust them, they have the products you want to buy and at a price that you want to pay. Their store is probably quite close to where you live, and your van probably knows the way without you turning the wheel! You spend a lot of money at this store and your suppliers spend there too. You are willing to walk away from all this because the new Manager sees you as a customer reference number and not Mr Marbleman. Personally I think you are in a great position to renegotiate prices with this store. I’m sure they would not like to see a 40k+ dent in their turnover if you go elsewhere. The area manager did call you at 19:00 so I think he definitely wants to keep your business. If all goes to plan I’m sure you would be better off staying with them, but I do think you need to keep an eye on them. Good luck. Cheers Sean

Sean i understand what you are saying, Trouble is i went over the managers head . and that will just make tough to deal with that branch- i will stay with the company at the moment and use a different branch 15 miles more out of my way ,
Stubborn i am when it comes to someone taking the ****, and i dont want to be in court just in case my temper gets the better of me as hes a bit of a smart arse if you know what i mean,

Marbleman, I have the same thing here...I've had an account at a certain lumberyard since 1991. It's weird-as business dropped off with the recession, the sales staff got more and more arrogant (that's bizarre?!). I stuck with this one salesman that I've had for years, but even he has turned out to be worthless.

He messed up my last order, wouldn't return phone calls, etc etc. I finally got :incazzato: and decided to go with a competitor. I called my new sales rep and left a message. He called me back in 5 minutes, I placed the order, and he set it up for delivery for the next day. $3000 in material in 5 minutes on the phone. Couldn't be easier, eh? I opened an account with his store and the other guys can take a hike.
